n a bid to boost demand and increase adoption of Zero-Emissions Vehicles, Britain has introduced new ZEV ownership incentives. Benjamin Zev shares the details:
As of 2025, the British government is set to offer discounts in the amount of up to 5,000 USD (3,750 GBP) to ZEV automobile buyers. Anyone interested in buying a battery-electric powered vehicle will have the opportunity to take advantage of this incredible discount. But that’s only where it begins and hardly where it ends! There are additional incentives, as announced by the British Government. As part of the “Plan for Change,” the Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) Fund is working diligently to install EV charging infrastructure throughout the country.
Plan for Change
The Plan for Change is the British government’s multi-layered strategic plan to accelerate the transition from new petrol and diesel powered vehicles to zero-emission vehicles. Consistently of numerous components, the Plan for Change includes strategic implementation of such offerings as the Electric Car Grant (ECG), Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) Fund and various tax benefits.
Electric Car Grant (ECG)
The Electric Car Grant (ECG) is a critical component of the Plan for Change. Announced in July 2025, ECG offers ZEV buyers a 3,750 GBP (5,000 USD) grant for purchase of a brand new battery-electric vehicle. This is the latest component of Plan for Change to be announced.
Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) Fund
The Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) Fund is a program tailored for investing in charging infrastructure throughout the United Kingdom. This includes but is not limited to EV charging stations in public spaces to better assist drivers in their transitions to ZEV driving.
